Kangana Ranaut vs Shiv Sena: Mumbai Police to investigate actress’ drug links

The Maharashtra State government on Friday ordered Mumbai Police to investigate Kangana Ranaut’s drug links based on an old interview given by actor Adhyayan Suman.

The order came after the Manikarnika actor’s ongoing rift with the Uddhav Thackeray led Shiv Sena.

In a 2016 interview, Adhyayan Suman, who reportedly dated Kangana Ranaut for a year in 2009, had alleged that she is a drug addict and also asked him to use drugs at a party in 2008.

With Kangana’s feud with Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) controlled by Shiv Sena, the interview is being widely shared wherein Adhyayan can be seen alleging Kangana of forcing him into taking drugs. However, Kangana had earlier said that she has never consumed drugs and is ready to testify for the same.

Adhyayan Suman has refused to comment on the probe based on his remarks. “Please do not drag my name in this!! I was ridiculed back in 2016 for speaking out by these media channels and now I am sorry I have nothing to say!” he tweeted.

Earlier this week, Sena leader and Thane MLA Pratap Sarnaik, in a letter to the state Home Department, stated that Kangana’s drug links should also be investigated in reference to Adhyayan Suman’s interview. Home Minister Anil Deshmukh then said Mumbai Police would conduct a thorough probe into the matter.

The word of war between Kangana and Shiv Sena begun when the former compared Mumbai to PoK while talking about Sushant Singh Rajput’s case. Kangana’s remark did not go well with many leaders including Sena’s MP Sanjay Raut who then used some highly unethical word for the actress.

Kangana, who was given Y + security when she returned to Mumbai, has now sought Congress president Sonia Gandhi’s attention, saying she must intervene and stop the harassment of women.

“Dear respected honourable@INCIndiapresident Sonia Gandhi ji being a woman arn’t you anguished by the treatment I am given by your government in Maharashtra? Can you not request your Government to uphold the principles of the Constitution given to us by Dr. Ambedkar?” the actor tweeted.

Kangana Ranaut has been constantly in the news after the death of Sushant Singh Rajput. She has been vocal about how the actor was tortured in Bollywood and also linked his death to toxic rivalries, bullying and nepotism in the Hindi film industry.
