Tata Starbucks has denied rumours that Dolly Chaiwala is its new brand ambassador. The clarification comes after social media buzz claimed the viral tea seller had landed a deal with the global coffee chain.
In a statement issued Monday, the company said, “TATA Starbucks does not have any official brand ambassadors in India. Specifically, we have not entered any collaboration with Dolly Chaiwala.” The false claims reportedly stemmed from an April Fool’s Day prank gone viral.
Dolly Chaiwala's Starbucks Collab Was Just A Joke
The rumour took off after influencer Aditya Oza posted a photoshopped image in April, showing Dolly Chaiwala as the new face of Starbucks. What started as a meme quickly got out of control. AI-generated stories and online misreporting added fuel to the fire.
Although the original post was deleted, screenshots kept circulating. Starbucks finally responded, saying, “The image was a meme, created independently by a third party.” The clarification was posted on their official LinkedIn page, sparking mixed reactions.
One user wrote, “Please maintain your place as a Tata franchise in India. That’s falling too far, too low.” Another added, “Much needed clarification. Saved humanity from chapris.” A user questioned the delay and wrote, “What made Starbucks take so much time in denying this?”
Of course, someone had to suggest a Bollywood twist. “Karan Johar will be better,” read another cheeky comment.

Why Is Dolly Chaiwala Suddenly Everywhere?
Dolly Chaiwala (real name is Sunil Patil) is a tea vendor from Nagpur. He became famous for his flashy outfits, energetic tea-making style, and viral videos. His signature moves and catchy vibe have turned him into an internet celebrity.
Last year, a video of him serving tea to Bill Gates brought him massive attention. He’s since appeared in brand campaigns, including one for Swiggy. While his style is loved by many, the idea of him fronting Starbucks didn’t sit well with everyone.
