Kaun Banega Crorepati 17 turned musical on Thursday as singer Shilpa Rao brought charm, nostalgia and some fun surprises to the episode that aired on November 20. Amitabh Bachchan enjoyed the warm vibe as Shilpa, Sukhwinder Singh and composer duo Vishal-Shekhar joined him for a special night.

Shilpa Rao Sings Her 2007 Song ‘Tose Naina Lage’ In Kaun Banega Crorepati 17

Shilpa made a lively entry with back-to-back performances of Chaleya and Besharam Rang. Her energy set the mood before she took the hot seat. Once seated, she spoke about her 2007 breakout song “Tose Naina Lage.”

She shared how the track slowly reached people through late-night radio. She said, “Yeh radio ka kamal hai jaha par RJs raat bhar iss movie ke gaane chalate rehte the… Anwar ke gaane… aur waha se phir Tose Naina famous ho gaya.”

She added, “Bohut chhoti film thi lekin woh gaana logo ke dil par gaya… aap sab ka isme bada yogdaan hain, aisi toh possible nahi tha.” At Big B’s request, she sang a few lines on the spot.

Sukhwinder Singh brought laughter with a childhood story. He recalled a singing competition where judges said, “Let’s give the trophy to the kid,” but he misheard trophy as toffee. He remembered dancing with excitement, thinking he had won sweets. The audience could not stop laughing.

Vishal and Shekhar shared the night’s biggest surprise. They revealed that Amitabh Bachchan’s character from Khuda Gawah inspired them while creating the music for Shah Rukh Khan’s Pathaan. They had little information about the film’s characters at the time, so they imagined Big B’s strong screen presence to build the musical tone.

Amitabh Bachchan reacted with a perfect throwback. In his voice, he delivered the line, “Sar zameen-e-Hindustan Aslaam Walekum.” As expected, the audience erupted in cheers.

For the unversed, Kaun Banega Crorepati 17 airs Monday to Friday at 9 pm on Sony TV and streams on Sony LIV.
