Kiara Advani has opened up about motherhood, parenting and the kind of life lessons she wants her daughter to grow up with. The actress, who welcomed daughter Saraayah with husband Sidharth Malhotra in 2025, recently shared her honest thoughts on modern relationships, dating and marriage expectations.
In a candid conversation, Kiara Advani revealed that she does not want her daughter to grow up believing she has to follow society’s traditional rules around love. The actress said she hopes Saraayah makes her own choices in life and experiences relationships without pressure or fear of judgment.
Kiara Advani Talks About Parenting Saraayah
Speaking about her upbringing, Kiara Advani shared that she grew up watching her parents as childhood sweethearts who eventually married and built a family together. That naturally shaped her own early understanding of relationships.
“Subconsciously, I felt like that is how it has to be,” Kiara admitted while reflecting on how she once believed every relationship would eventually lead to marriage.
However, the actress said life experiences later changed her perspective. According to Kiara, every relationship teaches important lessons and contributes to personal growth.
She said, “All those relationships in your life that you have growing up, they all teach you something. They make you eventually the person you are.”
Kiara explained that because of those experiences, she never wants her daughter to feel trapped by fixed ideas about love or marriage.
She shared, “I don’t want her to feel like she has to only date one person. If you want to get married, get married. If you don’t want to get married, don’t get married.”

The actress added that she wants Saraayah to grow up with the freedom to make her own decisions instead of living according to societal expectations. She said, “I would like to bring her up in a way that lets her make all her choices for herself.”
Kiara Advani Believes Mistakes Help People Grow
Kiara Advani also spoke about allowing children to experience life fully, even if it means making mistakes along the way. She explained, “It’s okay to experience life in totality, to decide what you want, what you don’t want. And you will make mistakes along the way.”
According to the actress, learning from those experiences is an important part of growing up. Kiara stressed that she does not want her daughter to see the world only through her parents’ journey. She added, “I don’t want her to experience life from our experiences. She should have her own.”
What Sidharth Malhotra Told Kiara About Parenting
Kiara also revealed an interesting conversation she had with husband Sidharth Malhotra about raising their daughter in the future.
The actress said she once asked Sidharth how he would react if Saraayah had a boyfriend someday. His response, according to Kiara, left her impressed. Sidharth told her, “Our job as parents is not to restrict her from anything. We will teach her to be able to choose for herself what’s right for her and what’s wrong for her. That’s our job.”
Kiara described his answer as “wise” and said she hopes their daughter always feels comfortable sharing things with her parents without fear of being judged.
