Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon 2 has arrived in cinemas, but its box office journey has started on a disappointing note. The Kapil Sharma starrer, which released on December 12, has failed to create the kind of impact many expected from a mainstream comedy sequel. Instead, it has been badly affected by strong competition and poor early feedback.

The film is a sequel to the 2015 comedy Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon. That movie marked Kapil Sharma’s big-screen debut. While the first part found an audience over time, it was not a major box office success. Kapil even joked about its performance on his chat shows. Sadly for fans, the sequel now appears to be heading in a similar direction.

One of the biggest challenges for Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon 2 was its release timing. When the film hit theatres, multiplex screens were already dominated by Ranveer Singh’s Dhurandhar. The action-packed film remains the top choice for moviegoers and continues to pull crowds in its second week. As a result, Kapil Sharma’s comedy struggled to secure enough shows and footfall.

Negative word of mouth further dented the film’s prospects. Soon after early shows, viewers took to social media to share their reactions. Many called the film average, while some went as far as labelling it a “disaster”. These reactions clearly impacted its opening-day numbers.

As per Sacnilk estimates, Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon 2 earned around Rs 1.75 crore on Day 1. The figure came as a shock, especially since comedy films usually perform well at the box office. The film also features a large ensemble cast, which generally helps attract a wider audience. However, this time, that advantage did not translate into ticket sales.

The comparison with the first instalment makes the situation even more concerning. The original film had opened at Rs 10.2 crore net in India. In contrast, the sequel’s opening is nearly 83% lower. While Dhurandhar continues to show strong growth, Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon 2 has already been labelled a box office disappointment.

Trade experts believe the road ahead looks tough. Due to negative buzz, the film has very limited chances of seeing a major jump over the weekend. It is also unlikely to recover its reported production cost of Rs 35 crore through its theatrical run alone.

About This Kapil Sharma Starrer Sequel

Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon 2 sticks to the comedy genre and relies heavily on situational humour. Some critics have pointed out weak logic in the story. Others feel it works as a light, time-pass entertainer for families.

The story once again follows Kapil Sharma’s character, who finds himself tangled in multiple relationships. In the sequel, he is shown to have already been married three times. Yet, he hopes to marry the woman he truly loves. The film banks on confusion, chaos, and comic situations to drive the plot.

Along with Kapil Sharma, the cast includes Manjot Singh, Hira Warina, Tridha Choudhary, Parul Gulati, and Ayesha Khan. Veteran actors Asrani, Akhilendra Mishra, Vipin Sharma, and Sushant Singh also appear in key roles.

After completing its theatrical run, Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon 2 is expected to stream on JioHotstar. Whether it finds a second life on OTT remains to be seen. For now, its box office start has clearly fallen short of expectations.
