The teaser of War 2 dropped the same day and created huge buzz across the internet. While most viewers celebrated the action-packed visuals and star-studded cast, Varma took to X (formerly Twitter) and posted a still of Kiara in a bikini. His caption drew instant criticism.

In his now-deleted post, he wrote, “Instead of our countries and societies, if the war between Hrithik and Jr NTR is on who gets her b**k, then 2 will be a b**buster.” The post didn’t sit well with netizens. They called out the filmmaker for objectifying a mainstream actress.

One user on Reddit commented, “Knew he is idiot and talks bullshit but this time he took things too far.” 

Another wrote, “RGV ko Pornhub aur Twitter pe comment karne ka fark nahi samjhta.” Several users pointed out how inappropriate the post was, especially coming from a veteran in the industry.

A fan reacted, “This is what he’s saying in public. Imagine what he’s like in private.” Many others dropped comments like “What a tharki” and “Old man lost his cool.”

As the backlash grew, Varma deleted the post from his timeline. But by then, screenshots had already gone viral across Reddit and X, keeping the controversy alive.

Kiara Advani Excited For War 2

She recently shared her excitement for War 2 on Instagram Stories. She posted a behind-the-scenes video and wrote, “Lots of firsts in this. First YRF film. First action film. First with these two amazing heroes. First collaboration with Ayan. And of course, first bikini shot.”

War 2 has been directed by Ayan Mukerji & stars Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR as leads. The film is the next big chapter in YRF’s spy universe. Hrithik returns as Kabir, and NTR plays the mysterious new antagonist. The film will hit theatres on August 14, 2025, in Hindi, Telugu, and Tamil.
