Korean Actor Lee Ji-han of Producer 101 Fame Dies in Seoul Halloween Stampede; Agency Issues Statement

Lee Ji-han: On Saturday, October 29, South Korea had one of the worst stampedes in history, claiming more than 154 lives. Producer 101 Season 2 participant Lee Ji-han was among those killed in the disaster. The disaster occurred when many individuals travelled to Itaewon, a neighbourhood near Seoul, for Halloween celebrations. The death of Lee Ji-han has been verified by his agency.

Lee Ji-han’s Agency Confirms Death

Lee Ji-han’s agency, in a statement said, “It’s true that Lee Ji Han passed away due to the accident in Itaewon on October 29. We also hoped that it wasn’t true, and we were very shocked to hear the news. The family is suffering immense grief right now, so we are being very cautious. May he rest in peace.” Lee Ji-han’s funeral will take place on November 1, as per reports.

Lee Jihan rose to prominence after appearing on the second season of the renowned reality singing competition series Produce 101, in which 101 candidates compete for the chance to join an 11-member K-pop group.

Lee Jihan made her acting debut in 2019 after participating on Produce 101, in the iconic Korean drama serial Today Was Another Nam Hyun Day.

Itaewon Halloween Stampede

Thousands of people gathered in Itaewon’s streets on Saturday to celebrate Halloween. However, the throng became too large, causing fear and eventually a tragic crowd surge.

The dead toll has risen in the days since the incident, with over 80 other individuals reported injured and thousands of missing person reports made.
