Poonam Pandey says she’s choosing peace over romance after going through a tough phase in her past. The Lock Upp fame actress opened up about her experience with domestic abuse and why she’s not ready for love anymore.
Poonam Pandey Says She Was Never Married
In a recent chat with Filmygyan, Poonam clarified that she was never married to filmmaker Sam Bombay. She shared, “I was never married. I was in a live-in relationship. Domestic violence in a relationship has put me into a situation where now I get scared to get into a relationship. It is scary. You always heal back, and currently, I am healing.”
She recalled a painful memory from that time and said, “I remember when the situation happened, the cops came into my house. I was in an unconscious state. They took me to the hospital. I have not given much importance to such things. I am happy in my little life. Mujha Jhansi Ki Rani nahi banana hai. Main khush hoon.”
Actress Feels Relationship Will Ruin Her Life
Poonam said she now feels scared of going through something like that again. She doesn’t want to be in a space where cops and hospitals become a routine. She added, “When you see hospitals and cops regularly, you get frustrated. I just don't want to see them again. That's why I don't want to get into a relationship. Mujhe aise lagta hai koi meri khush haal zindagi kharab kar dega.”
The actress also shared that she tried therapy but later gave it up. “I was taking therapy but stopped it because I don't want to go through it again.”
Sending a message to women who might be in a similar situation, Poonam said, “I just want to tell the women out there that it's not necessary to take action against the violence. Sometimes it is better to just move away and live your happy life.”
For the unversed, Poonam Pandey faced massive backlash for faking her death last year. The move was part of a campaign to raise awareness about cervical cancer. The stunt drew criticism, but Poonam appears to be focusing on healing and moving forward.
