Two big south films released recently, but their box office journeys couldn’t be more different. Mahavatar Narsimha, an animated mythological film starring Ashwin Kumar, is surprising everyone with its rising popularity. On the other hand, Pawan Kalyan’s much-anticipated period drama Hari Hara Veera Mallu: Part 1 is facing a sharp fall in collections after a strong opening weekend.
Mahavatar Narsimha Box Office Collection Day 4
Mahavatar Narsimha started off slowly, earning just Rs 1.35 cr on its opening day. But it didn’t take long to gain momentum. On its second day, the film jumped to Rs 4.6 cr. The third day was even better, bringing in Rs 9.5 cr. Monday is usually the real test for any film, and Mahavatar Narsimha passed it with Rs 6.15 cr. This brings the total to a solid Rs 22 cr in just four days.
The movie is winning hearts, especially among children, families, and animation lovers. Viewers are appreciating its storytelling and visuals, and many are calling it a fresh step in Indian animation. The Mahavatar Narsimha box office collection has already surpassed that of Hanuman (2005), making it the highest-grossing Indian animated film to date. It’s a big win not just for the film, but for the genre as a whole.
Hari Hara Veera Mallu Box Office Collection Day 5
In contrast, Hari Hara Veera Mallu started big but couldn’t keep the momentum going. The film collected Rs 34.75 cr on its first day, boosted by Rs 12.75 cr from paid previews. However, it dipped to Rs 8 cr on Friday, and although it managed Rs 10.6 cr on Sunday, the Monday crash was steep with only Rs 2.32 cr, as per early estimates.
The total India net collection now stands at Rs 77.57 cr, with a global gross of Rs 102.7 cr. Despite its grand scale and big budget of Rs 300 cr, the film is struggling to stay afloat. Weak occupancy on Monday (just 15.68%) and poor performance of the dubbed versions have raised doubts about the film’s long-term success.
Mahavatar Narsimha is proving that strong word-of-mouth and content can beat even the biggest names. While it’s soaring past records and setting new benchmarks for animated films, Hari Hara Veera Mallu is battling to stay in the race.
With Vijay Deverakonda’s Kingdom releasing soon, it might get even tougher for Pawan Kalyan’s film to recover. As of now, one movie is heading for box office glory, while the other struggles to keep its spot.
