Manish Malhotra who is one of India’s most well-known designers, with a large celebrity following is all set to make his directorial debut. Aside from being a designer, the fashion mogul has always wished to wear the director’s hat and now Manish Malhotra is about to live his ambition of becoming a director.
According to some sources Manish Malhotra will be making his directorial debut in association with Dharma Productions.
A source close to Dharma Productions was quoted by Hindustan Times saying, “The story and screenplay of this intense musical love story, set in the backdrop of the partition, is also written by Malhotra. He has already envisioned the entire screenplay ready in his mind and casting for the film will begin shortly.” The source further added that the film will “come with a splash of grandeur and elegance”.
Over the course of his 30-year career, he has contributed on restructuring the role of costumes in storytelling of Bollywood, going on to create some iconic ensembles, which continue to stay alive in the minds of people. Be it his bold yet aesthetic approach in Rangeela (1995), or simple yet sensuous in Dil Toh Pagal Hai (1997) or setting fashion objectives with skirts, dupattas, crop tops, and pants, or creating a fresh unique colour palette for bridal attire, he’s done it all. And now he’s ready to use his designs to weave the love storey.
Apart from the actresses, even the male celebs like Shah Rukh Khan, Amitabh Bachchan, Ranbir Kapoor and more have often been spotted donning Manish Malhotra sherwanis and kurtas.
