Mark Box Office Collection Day 1: Kannada superstar Kiccha Sudeep has reasons to smile as his latest action thriller Mark has taken a confident start at the box office. Released on Christmas Day, the film has managed to stand out amid tough competition and multiple festive releases.
As reported by Sacnilk, Mark earned around Rs 6.25 cr India net on its opening day. For a regional release arriving during a crowded holiday window, this is a solid and encouraging number.
Mark Box Office Collection Day 1
The opening figures become more impressive when seen alongside other major releases. Mark has comfortably outperformed Shiva Rajkumar’s 45, which also arrived in cinemas on the same day. 45 collected an estimated Rs 4.25 cr India net on Day 1. While that is not a poor number, Mark clearly enjoyed a stronger pull among audiences, giving Sudeep’s film an early edge in the festive box office race.
The gap becomes even wider when Mark is compared with Mohanlal’s Malayalam film Vrusshabha. Despite the presence of a legendary star, Vrusshabha had a disappointing start, collecting around Rs 70 lakh worldwide on its first day. In simple terms, Mark earned roughly eight times more than Vrusshabha on Day 1. The contrast highlights how strongly the Kannada audience has backed Sudeep’s film, while Vrusshabha struggled to convert curiosity into footfalls.
A key reason behind Mark’s solid opening lies in its impressive occupancy across Karnataka. On December 25, the Kannada version recorded an overall occupancy of about 81.87%. The film showed steady growth through the day, with afternoon and evening shows seeing packed theatres. This trend suggests positive word of mouth and strong festive viewing, especially among families and younger audiences who turned up in large numbers.
The response was not limited to major cities alone. Centres like Tumakuru and Mysuru reported very high occupancy, with several shows nearing full capacity. Smaller markets such as Raichur and Shivamogga also delivered encouraging numbers, indicating that Mark connected well beyond urban pockets. In comparison, 45 registered an overall occupancy of around 69.21%, with slower mornings impacting its Day 1 total.
About The Film
Mark is directed by Vijay Kartikeyaa and presents Sudeep in a rugged, mass-driven avatar. He plays Ajay Markandeya IPS, a suspended and hot-headed police officer caught in a dangerous web of child kidnappings, drug crime, and political power games. The story unfolds at a brisk pace, leaning into a “one-man army” narrative that plays to Sudeep’s strengths.
The film features Naveen Chandra as the main antagonist, alongside Shine Tom Chacko, Yogi Babu, Guru Somasundaram, Deepshika and Roshni Prakash in key roles. With a runtime of 144 minutes, Mark blends action, investigation, and political drama. Produced by Sathya Jyothi Films and Kichcha Creations, the film is now well placed to build on its Day 1 momentum as the Christmas weekend unfolds.
If the current trend holds, Mark could emerge as one of the stronger Kannada openers of the season.
