‘Mere Ek Kiss Ne Hila Dala’ Dharmendra Tells Ranveer Singh, Calls His RARKPK Character TRAGIC Like SRK's Devdas

Dharmendra is once again making headlines for his intimate sequence in a 2023 Bollywood release. The veteran actor recently spoke about the much-talked-about lip-lock scene with Shabana Azmi in Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani. The film was directed by Karan Johar and had several dramatic moments, but this one surprised fans the most.

While Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt led the film’s main love story, it was the unexpected romance between Dharmendra and Shabana Azmi that caught attention. Viewers didn’t just react with shock, they actually appreciated it. Now, Dharmendra is sharing how that one kiss managed to make such an impact.

Speaking to ANI, Dharmendra recalled teasing Ranveer Singh about it. He shared, “Maine Ranveer ko bola, Ranveer, Rocky aur Rani ki prem kahani me, tune to bohot kisses ki hain, aur meri ek hi kiss ne hila dala logo ko.” His cheeky comment showed just how much the moment stood out.

Dharmendra also spoke about the emotional side of his character. He added, “In a way, he was like Devdas, the Devdas who wandered in alcohol, with no memory of anything, and then he dies… It’s tragic, and it was a good story.”

There’s No Age For Romance - Says The Veteran Actor

This isn’t the first time he’s opened up about the kiss. In an earlier chat with News18 Showsha, Dharmendra said, “I am hearing that Shabana and I have surprised the audience with the kissing scene, and at the same time, they have even applauded it. I think people weren’t expecting it and it came very suddenly, which is why it created an impact.”

He added that the scene wasn’t forced. Dharmendra explained, “When Karan narrated the scene to us, I did not get excited (laughs). We understood it and I realised that it was something that the film required and wasn’t forcefully put in and I said I will do it.”

Dharmendra also stood by the message behind the moment. He said, “Also, I believe there is no age for romance. Age is just a number, and two people, irrespective of age, will show their love for each other by kissing. The actor also revealed that both he and Shabana were comfortable doing the scene.
