Monalisa Bhosle, who went viral during the Mahakumbh Mela in 2025, has married her boyfriend Farman Khan in Kerala. The 18-year-old tied the knot on March 11, 2026.
The wedding took place at the Arumanoor Sri Nainaar Deva Temple in Thiruvananthapuram. Soon after the news surfaced, the interfaith marriage started trending online. Many social media users reacted with shock, while others began debating the situation.
Monalisa, often referred to online as the “amber-eyed girl” after her Mahakumbh video went viral, is also working on films. However, the events leading up to the wedding involved family disputes and police intervention.
Monalisa Bhosle Marriage: Family Claimed She Was Still A Minor
Before the wedding, there was confusion about Monalisa’s age. Her family initially claimed she was still a minor. Because of this, the marriage plans faced questions. Later, the Kerala Police checked her documents and confirmed she was born in 2008. This means she is legally an adult. Under Indian law, adults can choose their life partner. Because of this, Monalisa was legally allowed to marry without parental consent.
Despite that, the relationship faced strong opposition from her family. Her father, Vijay Singh Bhosle, reportedly travelled from Indore to Kerala to bring her back. He claimed she was being misled. Monalisa told authorities that she had left home on her own. She also said her family was pressuring her to marry a relative.
The couple then approached the Thampanoor Police Station for protection. Monalisa told officers she wanted to stay in Kerala and marry Farman. Police later provided security and informed her father that she could make her own decisions.
Monalisa Bhosle Marriage Shocks Netizens
After the wedding news spread, many users shared their reactions online. Read some user comments below:
“Oh, man! That’s sad.”
“God save her. Kerala story 3.”
“Apne career ka satyanash ka diya. She can get a good place in films there.”
“This guy clearly groomed her and Kerala government is willingly allowing this marriage, considering they were in a relationship when she was 16/17. I guess she will be the poster child for love jihad propaganda.
“And why muslim girls are not allowed to marry Hindus?”
“She should have been given protection, not married off to a man she met when she was 16. That’s grooming. She was a minor with limited education who was suddenly pushed into the public spotlight by the media. Then, at such a young age, she ends up in a relationship with a man she reportedly met on a film set when she was around 16 or 17. That raises serious concerns. The Kerala government should have focused on providing her with protection and support, and advised her to make such decisions when she was older and more mature. If reports are accurate, she has just turned 18 while the man is in his late 20s. That kind of age gap, starting from when she was a minor, cannot simply be ignored.”
Mahakumbh Girl Working On Films After Wedding
Apart from the controversy, Monalisa is currently working on films. She is part of a Malayalam film titled Nagamma. She is also expected to appear in another project called The Diary of Manipur. These films mark the start of her work in the film industry.
