Actress Priyanka Chopra, who has been active in Hollywood for last few years, on Tuesday appealed to the President of the United States (POTUS) and the US government to urgently share Covid-19 vaccines with India as her home country continues to suffer amid the lethal attack of second wave of coronavirus.
“My heart breaks. India is suffering from COVID19 & the US has ordered 550M more vaccines than needed @POTUS @WHCOS @SecBlinken @JakeSullivan46 Thx for sharing AstraZeneca worldwide, but the situation in my country is critical. Will you urgently share vaccines w/ India? #vaxlive,” she posted.
Her tweet has garnered mix responses from netizens. While many accused her of being too late in her approach, while others appreciated her efforts.
“This tweet was required Atleast 2 weeks back. You shouldn’t have waited for #VaxLive campaign to tweet for your fellow countrymen,” wrote one user, while another posted, “So proud of you Queen for having the guts to talk about such important issue we are facing currently.”Another wrote: “Wow very early ur heart breaks.”
Her tweet comes as India continues to report more than 3 lakh Covid cases for the sixth day in a row. The country logged a total of 3,23,144 Covid cases and 2,771 deaths in the last 24 hours, a decline trend from the Monday figure, according to the health ministry’s data released on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, Priyanka is currently in London where she is shooting for her upcoming project Citadel – an Amazon Prime venture by Russo Brothers.
