Naga Chaitanya: While addressing at the victory ceremony for his newest film, Veera Simha Reddy, Telugu superstar Nandamuri Balakrishna sparked a new controversy. During his impassioned speech to excite his followers at the ceremony, he mispronounced Akkineni Nageswara Rao’s name. “We used to chat a lot about shastras, my father, dialogues, aa Rangarao ee Rangarao, Akkineni, Thokkineni, and other things,” he stated during the ceremony.
Fans of iconic actor Akkineni Nageswara Rao were outraged by Balakrishna’s remarks. In Telugu film, ANR was NT Rama Rao’s contemporaries, and they were also close friends. ANR and NTR have also appeared in various films together. Their friendship was also acknowledged in Balakrishna’s biopic of NTR. In addition to producing it, he played his father in the two-part biography NTR: Kathanayakudu and NTR: Mahanayakud.
Naga Chaitanya posted statement on Twitter
Naga Chaitanya, ANR’s grandson, was offended by Balakrishna’s remark. He issued a statement on Tuesday expressing his anger. “The creative contributions of Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao garu, Akkineni Nageswara Rao garu, and SV Ranga Rao garu have been the pride and cornerstones of Telugu cinema. Disrespecting them is demeaning ourselves,” he explained.
Meanwhile, Balakrishna’s Veera Simha Reddy has become one of the star’s biggest hits. The film, along with Chiranjeevi’s Waltair Veerayya, was released around the Sankranti holiday to mixed reviews. However, it was well received by Balakrishna’s core fan base.
