Ranbir Kapoor is once again at the centre of online chatter after fresh reports suggested that Brahmastra 2 could finally move forward. The sequel to Ayan Mukerji’s ambitious fantasy film has been in limbo for a while, but a new update has reignited interest among fans.
According to recent buzz, Ramayana producer Namit Malhotra may take charge of the Astraverse and back Brahmastra Part Two: Dev. While there is no official confirmation yet, the claim has already triggered strong reactions across social media platforms.
Namit Malhotra To Produce Ranbir Kapoor Starrer Brahmastra 2?
The speculation gained momentum after Malhotra, along with actor Yash, appeared at CinemaCon 2026 in Las Vegas. As per an X (formerly Twitter) post, the producer hinted at taking the Astraverse forward. This has led many to believe that Brahmastra 2 could finally go on floors after a long delay.
The first part, released in 2022, starred Ranbir Kapoor alongside Alia Bhatt and Amitabh Bachchan. It ended with a clear setup for a sequel, but progress on the second instalment has remained uncertain ever since.
Naturally, the possibility of a revival has excited some fans. However, others remain sceptical, especially given the mixed response to the first film.

A third user said, “Brahmastra part one was a flop right? Karan Johar and Fox Star Studios distanced themselves from the franchise.”
One more added, “Namit will be next Om Raut.”
What Was Brahmastra Part One About?
Directed by Ayan Mukerji, Brahmāstra: Part One – Shiva introduced audiences to a fantasy world rooted in Indian mythology. Ranbir Kapoor played Shiva, an orphan who discovers his deep connection with fire and learns that he is linked to powerful celestial weapons known as ‘astras’.
Alongside Isha, played by Alia Bhatt, Shiva embarks on a journey to protect the Brahmāstra (the most powerful of all astras) from falling into the wrong hands. The film also featured Amitabh Bachchan, Nagarjuna Akkineni and Mouni Roy, with a cameo by Shah Rukh Khan. Known for its heavy visual effects and grand scale, the film focused strongly on themes of love and destiny.
Despite mixed reviews, it performed reasonably well at the box office, collecting around Rs 431 crore worldwide and Rs 267.20 crore net in India, against a reported budget of Rs 400 crore.
What’s Next For Ranbir Kapoor?

Planned as a two-part epic, the first instalment is scheduled for a Diwali release this year, with the second part expected the following year.
