New on HBO: Trailer of the Weeknd’s New Series The Idol Releases

New on HBO: HBO has slowly begun falling behind when it comes to shows, especially compared to streaming giants like Netflix and Amazon Prime Video. However, the streaming platform seems to be getting back into gear as it released the new trailer The Idol.

The show was co-created by Abel Tesfaye (The Weeknd), “nightlife entrepreneur” Reza Fahim, and Euphoria creator Sam Levinson. The show revolves around the relationship between an L.A. cult leader, played by Tesfaye, and a pop star on the come-up, played by Johnny Depp’s daughter Lily-Rose Depp.

The star-studded cast features names that you’ll definitely recognise. From Troye Sivan to Hank Azaria. Also in the mix is Dan Levy from Schitt’s Creek and Anne Heche, whose death earlier this month occurred shortly after shooting wrapped for the season.

Former director Amy Seimetz left the project due to a reported “change in creative directions.” This caused reshoots on the episodes that had already been filmed. However Levinson since took over the mantle.
