Pakistani drama: Tere Bin makers remove marital rape, turn it into consensual sex, angry netizens react

Pakistani drama Tere Bin

The tides have turned for Tere Bin after a recent promo of the show sent the internet into disbelief, with many netizens calling out the makers for promoting toxicity. A promo of the show showed scenes of marital rape in the 47th episode. While the makers continued to defend the scenes saying the development will play a pivotal role in how the story will progress, the scenes were later changed into consensual sex between Murtasim and Meerab.

The Slap controversy

The 46th episode of the show concluded with Meerab slapping Murtsim over a misunderstanding that took place due to Haya. While Murtism tried to narrate his side of the story, Meerab’s no-nonsense attitude turned the situation ugly. This whole scenario landed the Yumna Zaidi and Wahaj Ali starrer into hot water with many calling out makers for trying to disrupt the sanctity of their beloved drama.

Ushna Shah jumps into the controversy

Pakistani actress Ushna Shah is known for her bold opinions on social media, and recently, she took part in the heated debate that revolved around Tere Bin.

Journalist Maliha Rehman recently took to Twitter to share how it’s very damaging for viewers to see the downfall of their favourite drama.

In another tweet, the journalist stated, “If I think of it, it’s all rather brilliant in a sad, sad way. The ratings are skyrocketing and it’s all anyone is talking about on desi social media. Regardless, certain lines shouldn’t be crossed. Hoping against hope that Tere Bin doesn’t cross them.”

Ushna Shah seconded Rehman’s opinion but added her own twist saying how the tables would had turned if these were her words.

“Now if I had said exactly what u did, it would have had 500 retweets with “this b**** promoting ra** for ratings.” SMH”

Makers react

After severe criticism on social media, producer Kadwani tweeted, urging people not to make assumptions before watching the episode. “We love and respect our audience. We urge them to wait for the next episode of Tere Bin and please stop jumping to conclusions,” he wrote.
