Sidharth Malhotra and Janhvi Kapoor starrer Param Sundari completed its first week in theatres with a performance that fell short of expectations. Despite heavy promotions and a star-studded cast, the romantic comedy has yet to break the Rs 50 crore mark, making it one of the more modest performers of the year.

Param Sundari Box Office Collection Day 7: First Week Collections Remain Underwhelming

The film opened to a lukewarm response, earning Rs 7.25 crore on its first day. Collections improved slightly over the weekend, with Rs 9.25 crore on Saturday and Rs 10.25 crore on Sunday. The total weekend haul reached Rs 26.75 crore, showing some promise but not enough to create a blockbuster buzz.

Weekdays saw a natural dip in earnings. Monday brought in Rs 3.25 crore, followed by a small recovery on Tuesday with Rs 4.25 crore. Midweek collections slowed again, with Wednesday at Rs 2.85 crore and Thursday at Rs 2.75 crore. By the end of its first week, Param Sundari had accumulated Rs 39.85 crore, remaining below the anticipated Rs 50 crore benchmark. The film delivered modest gains on certain days but largely maintained an average box office performance.

Occupancy levels varied across cities on the seventh day. Bengaluru and Chennai led with 13.33% and 12.67% occupancy, respectively, supported by strong evening shows. Mumbai and Jaipur recorded around 10%, while the National Capital Region (NCR) saw 9.33%. Cities like Pune, Kolkata, and Lucknow maintained moderate interest between 8–9%, whereas Hyderabad and Ahmedabad witnessed slightly lower turnout. Smaller cities, including Surat and Bhopal, reported minimal occupancy, under 4%.

Despite this uneven attendance, the film maintained a strong screen presence. NCR led with 1,118 shows, followed by Mumbai (695) and Ahmedabad (402), ensuring Param Sundari remained widely available to audiences.

Param Sundari now faces stiff competition, with three major releases arriving on September 5. These include Baaghi 4, starring Tiger Shroff, Harnaaz Sandhu, Sanjay Dutt, and Sonam Bajwa; Vivek Agnihotri’s political drama The Bengal Files; and the Hollywood horror thriller The Conjuring: Last Rites. With such heavy competition, the film’s ability to cross Rs 50 crore or sustain a longer theatrical run remains uncertain.

While the film is unlikely to be a financial loss thanks to non-theatrical deals securing Maddock Films’ production costs, its box office journey is far from stellar. Industry experts predict Param Sundari will finish its run on a below-average note.

About The Film

Released on August 29, Param Sundari is directed by Tushar Jalota and produced by Dinesh Vijan under Maddock Films. Alongside Sidharth Malhotra and Janhvi Kapoor, the film features Sanjay Kapoor, Manjot Singh, Inayat Verma, Renji Panicker, and Abhishek Banerjee in a special appearance.

Critics and audiences have offered mixed to negative feedback. While some found it a light, breezy watch, many criticised its weak plot, dragged narration, inconsistent performances, and portrayal of South Indian culture. Several viewers even compared it to a stretched-out Kerala Tourism ad lasting over two hours.
