South Korean actor Park Jun Hwi is facing massive backlash after a half-naked photo of him with fellow actor Woo Jin Young surfaced online. The viral image, briefly seen on Park’s own Instagram story, triggered a storm of controversy, with fans suspecting that Park’s fiancée exposed their alleged affair.
In the now-deleted story, Park is seen wearing just a T-shirt and underwear while sitting beside Woo on a couch, both of them with their heads down. Making things worse, a set of leaked messages between the two actors hinted at an intimate relationship. “Can I go shower after I change?” Park asked. Woo responded, “Is it okay to shower?” and Park replied, “Since I’m showering with the door closed, there won’t be any sounds.” That exchange alone set social media ablaze.
Park’s Instagram account disappeared soon after the images went viral. Fans believe it wasn’t a hack but a revenge move by his fiancée. Online users flooded the internet with theories. One wrote, “The fiancé is smart posting the photos on the guy's public account.” Another added, “Wow, the first photo totally looks like it’s from a cheating scene…”
The response was immediate. The screenshots spread like wildfire, and both actors’ names started trending. Since Park was reportedly engaged, many fans expressed shock and anger over the betrayal.
Both Park and Woo were working together in Bare: A Pop Opera, with Park also cast in Nijinsky. But after the scandal exploded, both actors pulled out of the productions. On June 5, production house Show Play Entertainment confirmed the news, stating, “Actors Park Jun Hwi, who played Peter, and Woo Jin Young, who played Tanya, have withdrawn from the performances due to personal reasons.”
The company also apologised to fans in a statement and said, “We sincerely apologise for the inconvenience caused to the audience due to the actors’ withdrawal and the resulting casting changes." Ticket refunds are being offered with no extra charges.
Neither actor has responded publicly. Park’s social media remains offline, and Woo has stayed silent.
