Spirit release date announcement has triggered mixed reactions online, especially as it arrived just days after Prabhas’ The Raja Saab faced a disappointing run at the box office. While fans welcomed the update with relief, a section of social media users questioned the timing, leading to fresh trolling aimed at the actor and director Sandeep Reddy Vanga.

T-Series recently confirmed that Spirit will hit theatres worldwide on March 5, 2027. Sharing the update, the production house wrote, “REMEMBER… #Spirit is set for a World release on 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐜𝐡 𝟓, 𝟐𝟎𝟐7.” The post quickly went viral, sparking intense discussion on platforms like Reddit and X, where users debated whether the announcement was strategically rushed.

Prabhas Gets Trolled After Spirit Release Date Announcement

The timing grabbed attention because it came shortly after The Raja Saab, Prabhas’ horror-comedy directed by Maruthi, failed to meet box-office expectations. Many felt the sudden reveal was meant to shift focus away from the setback and restore confidence in Prabhas’ upcoming slate.

Read some user reactions on Reddit below:

“The situation is kinda weirdly funny…SRV is announcing his biggest film till date at a time when the film’s lead is delivering the biggest box-office bomb of his career. SRV even promoted the same film himself.”

“The Bharadwaj Rangan effect.”

“This announcement probably was hastened coz his lead hero’s team wanted it. So attention is quickly diverted and narrative can be managed around him.”

“I don’t think Prabhas being nude would entice anyone except Vanga.”

“Ranbir’s shouting saved Animal. Prabhas can’t even do that. May ‘God’ help ‘Spirit’.”

Despite the online chatter, the makers have already set the tone for Spirit with its striking first poster. The image features Prabhas alongside Triptii Dimri in an intense setup. Prabhas is seen with a heavily bruised back, holding a liquor bottle, while Triptii lights a cigarette for him. The visual hints at a dark, gritty narrative in line with Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s signature style.

From a box-office perspective, March 5, 2027, could be a smart release window. The date falls on a Friday and is followed by Maha Shivaratri on March 6, a Sunday on March 7 and Ramzan on March 10. The month also includes Holi on March 22, Good Friday on March 26, and multiple extended weekends. If the film clicks with audiences, these holidays could help drive strong footfalls over several weeks.

Locking the date well in advance also sends a clear signal to other producers. Reports suggest that SS Rajamouli and Mahesh Babu’s much-anticipated project may aim for a late-March release. By securing March 5 early, Spirit avoids a direct clash with another major release and ensures breathing space at the box office.

Sandeep Reddy Vanga And Prabhas’ Work Front

Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s last outing Animal emerged as a massive commercial success despite polarising opinions. The Ranbir Kapoor-led film also featured Anil Kapoor, Rashmika Mandanna and Triptii Dimri in key roles. Expectations are now high for Spirit, which marks Vanga’s first collaboration with Prabhas.

Meanwhile, Prabhas continues to remain in the spotlight. While The Raja Saab failed to impress commercially, his fans are hopeful that Spirit will mark a strong comeback.
