Puneeth Rajkumar passes away: Film fraternity mourns loss

Kannada star Puneeth Rajkumar breathed his last on Friday at the age of 46. Earlier in the day, the actor was admitted to hospital after he complained of chest pain. He was taken to the Vikaram Hospital in Bengaluru


The news of his demise has been confirmed by actor Sonu Sood on his Twitter account. “Heartbroken. Will always miss you my brother. #PuneethRajkumar,” Sonu tweeted.

The sad demise has sent Tollywood industry into tears as many Also, many sportsmen including Virender Sehwag and Anil Kumble have taken to Twitter and paid their tributes.

Sehwag took to Twitter, a picture of the actor wrote, “Saddened to hear about the passing away of #PuneethRajkumar . Warm , and humble, his passing away is a great blow to Indian cinema. May his soul attain sadgati. Om Shanti.”

Megastar Chiranjeevi paid his tribute to the Kannada actor and wrote on Twitter, “Shocking ,devastating & heartbreaking! #PuneethRajkumar gone too soon. Rest in Peace! My deepest sympathies and tearful condolences to the family. A huge loss to the Kannada / Indian film fraternity as a whole.Strength to all to cope with this tragic loss!”

Also, Anil Kumble took to Twitter and paid his tribute to the 46-year-old late actor and wrote, “Shocked and deeply saddened on the passing of #PuneethRajkumar the film industry has lost a gem. One of the finest human being I’ve met. So vibrant and humble.Gone too soon. Condolences to his family, friends and innumerable fans.”

Former cricketer Venkatesh Prasad wrote, “Extremely sad to know of the passing away of our dear #PuneethRajkumar . My heartfelt condolences to his family, friends and fans. I request his fans to maintain calm and pray for his Sadgati in this excruciating time for the family. Om Shanti”

Filmmaker Boney Kapoor also paid his tribute and wrote, “Deeply shocked to know of the sudden demise of @PuneethRajkumar A powerful actor who won the hearts of people with his incredible body of work. Condolences to the family #RIP #Gonetoosoon #PuneethRajkumar”

Son of matinee idol Rajkumar, Puneeth is fondly called ‘Appu’ by his fans. He started his career as a child artist with his father in the early 1980s. ‘ Raam’, ‘Hudugaru’, and ‘Anjani Putra’ are some of his memorable movies. He was last seen in ‘Yuvarathnaa’, which was released early this year.
