The teaser of Ramayana has sparked discussions worldwide. Indian viewers had mixed reactions, praising the grand visuals but critiquing Ranbir Kapoor’s portrayal of Lord Rama. In contrast, Chinese audiences loved the scale and production of the film.
Interestingly, many Chinese fans suggested Sourabh Raaj Jain, known for playing Lord Krishna in Mahabharat (2013–14) and Lord Vishnu in Mahadev (2014), would be a better choice for Rama.

Ramayana has been familiar to Chinese audiences for years through Jataka tales and various adaptations. Many expressed excitement but also noted that Ranbir Kapoor might not perfectly suit Lord Rama. Several comments suggested Sourabh Raaj Jain would be ideal:

About Ramayana Movie
Ramayana is a two-part epic produced on a budget of ₹4000 crore, making it the most expensive Indian film ever and one of the costliest globally.
The star cast includes:
- Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Rama
- Sai Pallavi as Sita
- Yash as Ravana
- Sunny Deol as Lord Hanuman
- Ravie Dubey as Lakshman
The teaser called “Rama glimpse” focused mainly on Lord Rama but also showed Sita, Lakshman and Yash’s Ravana with his flying machine, Pushpak Vimana.
Veteran actor Sunil Lahri, who played Lakshman in the 1987 Ramayan, expressed doubts about Ranbir’s casting. He noted that while Ranbir is talented, he currently lacks the calmness and patience (sheetalta and dhairya) needed for Lord Rama. Lahri suggested Ranbir might have suited Lakshman or Bharat better due to his intense on-screen persona.
Ramayana Part One is scheduled for release in theatres in October 2026, with Part Two expected in 2027. Fans worldwide continue to debate casting choices while eagerly awaiting the full release.
