Ranveer Singh: ‘Toxic PR Is Working Hard…’ Why Are Netizens Accusing Yash’s Team Amid FIR Against Dhurandhar Actor? Check

Ranveer Singh faces a fresh FIR weeks after the Daiva scene row, sparking online debate. Netizens question the timing and call it publicity. Check reactions!

Ranveer Singh is back in the headlines after a fresh FIR was registered against him in Bengaluru. This comes weeks after the controversy around his mimicry of a Daiva scene from Rishab Shetty‘s Kantara Chapter 1. While the actor had already faced criticism and issued a public apology, the timing of this new FIR has triggered fresh debate online.

The delay in legal action has raised questions among netizens. Many are wondering whether the FIR is purely legal or if there is something more behind it. Social media (especially Reddit) is buzzing with theories linking the issue to upcoming film releases and industry rivalry.

According to NDTV, the FIR was registered on Wednesday at the High Grounds Police Station in Bengaluru. This development comes over a month after the alleged incident, which has only added fuel to online speculation.

FIR Against Ranveer Singh Sparks ‘Toxic PR’ Claims Online

The FIR accuses Ranveer Singh of allegedly hurting Hindu religious sentiments and insulting the Chavundi Daiva tradition of coastal Karnataka. The case has been registered under Sections 196, 299, and 302 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). The complaint was filed by Bengaluru-based advocate Prashanth Methal.

Many online users found it strange that a fresh FIR was filed so long after the incident, especially since Ranveer had already faced complaints and apologised publicly. Some believe it is negative PR by Yash’s Toxic team ahead of a clash with Dhurandhar Part 2, while others feel it is a publicity move to create buzz before Dhurandhar’s OTT release.

“Seriously?!? I thought this matter was done and dusted.”

“After 2 months lol Toxic Pr is working hard! Funniest thing will be them delaying toxic release at very last moment after Dhurandhar 2 teaser drops…let’s see who has the last laugh.”

“Bas kardo toxic ka pr ab bass kar de bhai.”

“Netflix promotion begins itna bhi obvious nahi hona tha.”

What The FIR Says About The Daiva Scene Controversy

As per the FIR, the alleged incident took place on November 28, 2025, during the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in Goa. The complaint claims that Ranveer made derogatory remarks and performed a stage act that mocked sacred elements of the Daiva tradition.

It further alleges that he imitated expressions linked to Panjurli and Guliga Daiva in a crude and comical manner. The complaint also states that he referred to Chavundi Daiva as a “female ghost,” which deeply hurt religious sentiments.

According to the complainant, Chavundi Daiva is a revered guardian deity symbolising divine feminine energy in coastal Karnataka. Misrepresenting the deity was described as offensive and disrespectful.

The matter has now been referred to the 1st Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Court in Bengaluru. The next hearing is scheduled for April 8. A private complaint was earlier filed on December 27, after which the court ordered the registration of an FIR on January 23.
