Sameera Reddy On Choosing Aakhri Sawal For Her Comeback
Speaking about her decision in a media interview, Sameera Reddy said she was drawn to the film because it challenges beliefs and pushes boundaries.
She said, “I didn’t step back into films to play it safe and Aakhri Sawal is far from comfortable. My understanding of RSS was limited and largely shaped by half-knowledge, but after reading the script, I realised how much of it didn’t add up. That realisation stayed with me. This isn’t a film that reassures you -it unsettles you, challenges your beliefs, and pushes you to question what you’ve always accepted. I wanted my return to stand for something fearless, something that sparks debate and this does exactly that.”

Aakhri Sawal Story And Political Backdrop
Aakhri Sawal is described as a political drama that traces the 100-year journey of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) since its formation in 1925. The story follows a heated academic conflict between a research scholar, Vicky, played by Namashi Chakraborty, and his mentor Professor Gopal Nadkarni, played by Sanjay Dutt.
The dispute begins after a rejected thesis and soon turns into a national-level intellectual debate. The film touches upon major historical events like the Emergency, the assassination of Mahatma Gandhi and the Babri Masjid demolition. The narrative is shaped as a “Guru-Shishya” conflict that slowly unfolds deeper ideological questions.
Directed by Abhijeet Mohan Warang, the film aims to explore controversial and layered themes through a dramatic storyline.
