Shah Rukh Khan had an emotional and proud moment in Mumbai as he launched the first-ever real estate project named after him. The superstar attended a grand event at a five-star hotel, where he joined Rizwan Sajan, the founder and chairman of the Dubai-based Danube Group, to unveil Shahrukhz. The iconic tower marks a historic moment, as Shah Rukh becomes the first Indian actor to have a residential building named after him.
Shah Rukh Khan Gets Emotional While Launching Shahrukhz Danube
The atmosphere at the event was warm and celebratory. Shah Rukh shared how meaningful it was for him that the launch happened in India and not Dubai. He said he appreciated Rizwan’s wish to bring the moment home, where his journey began.
SRK said, “I really wanted the event to take place here, as I come from here. Wanting to make their lives better. As and when this project begins to roll, I hope people find their lives growing beautifully and exponentially, as they should.”
The actor grew emotional when speaking about how proud his mother would have been. He added, “My mother would be very happy. It is a very big honour. When my kids come, I will say, ‘Papa ka naam likha hai, dekho.’ I have seen all the details of this building for the past two months. It is state-of-the-art and affordable. For people who are starting off in Dubai, it will be a moment and an inspiration to make their lives.”
Throughout the event, Shah Rukh kept the energy lively and warm. In a viral moment on stage, he struck his iconic arms-wide-open pose, showed his famous “Don” walk, and even recited the beloved Om Shanti Om dialogue – “Itni shiddat se mein ne tumhe paane ki koshish ki hai, ki har zarre ne mujhe tumse milane ki saazish ki hai. Aaj aap sabne mujhe meri chaht se mila diya. Thanks, thanks very much.”
The crowd cheered as he danced to Chaiyya Chaiyya along with Farah Khan and Rizwan Sajan.
Shah Rukh also spoke honestly about what it feels like to have a building named after him. “I don’t find myself that important that I put anything in my name except my films. Films are part of my profession and worship.”
To this, Farah Khan added a touching remark of her own. She said, “Shah Rukh has given his name to four people – Gauri, Aryan, Suhana and AbRam.”
Shah Rukh described himself as “Eid ka chand… kam dikhta hu, but jab dikhta hoon, kamaal hota hai.”
About Shahrukhz Danube
The Shahrukhz tower will be a 56-storey luxury property in Dubai and is expected to take three to four years to complete. A statue of Shah Rukh’s iconic open-arms pose will be placed at the entrance, giving fans a chance to click pictures as soon as they walk in.
Speaking about the idea behind the project, he said, “When Rizwan explained the idea of the building – to build something for people who come with the dream of finding a place for their businesses and houses in a place like Dubai, and if I can be a part of it and an inspiration, it will be the greatest gift.”

On the work front, Shah Rukh Khan is gearing up for King, directed by Siddharth Anand. The film features Deepika Padukone, Suhana Khan, Rani Mukerji, Abhishek Bachchan, Abhay Verma and more.
Meanwhile, his production banner Red Chillies Entertainment recently produced the Netflix series The Ba***ds of Bollywood, marking Aryan Khan’s directorial debut.
