Singer Shreya Ghoshal recently spoke about the changing phase of Bollywood playback singing while reacting to Arijit Singh stepping away from film songs. During a recent interview, the singer admitted that she too sometimes feels like taking a break. Her statement left many fans worried and social media was filled with varied reactions.
Shreya made the remarks while talking about Arijit Singh’s decision to stop taking new playback assignments in films. She praised him for following his heart and said such choices require courage, especially in an industry where singers are expected to keep working continuously.
How Shreya Ghoshal REACTED To Arijit Singh’s Decision
In an interview with ABP News, Shreya spoke about how much she values live singing and honesty in music. She said performing live is an important part of who she is as an artist and she would never want to depend on lip-syncing on stage.
She said, “I feel very uncomfortable with that. I will stop singing the day I have to do that.”
Talking about Arijit Singh’s decision to move away from playback singing, Shreya said she understands why an artist may want to slow down. She said, “I also feel like taking a break sometimes. He took that decision very bravely…He is a musician from the heart. He doesn’t think about why he is making music or what he will get from it. He just does what makes him happy.”
According to Shreya, this is the reason why listeners connect deeply with Arijit’s songs. She added that for him, music always comes first, and that sincerity reflects in his work.
Arijit Singh had earlier announced that he would not take any new playback singing assignments in Bollywood after completing his current projects. In a message shared with fans, he wrote, “Hello, Happy New Year to all. I want to thank you all for giving me so much love all these years as listeners. I am happy to announce that I am not gonna be taking any new assignments as a playback vocalist from now on. I am calling it off. It was a wonderful journey.”
He also clarified that he will continue making music independently, but wants the new generation to get more opportunities in films.
