The cancelled wedding of cricketer Smriti Mandhana and music composer Palaash Muchhal, scheduled for November 23, has sparked a social media storm. The ceremony was postponed due to sudden health issues concerning Smriti’s father. However, rumours of cheating began circulating online.
The controversy grew after screenshots of alleged private chats between Palaash Muchhal and a woman named Mary D’Costa surfaced. The flirty messages suggested Palaash was dismissive of his long-distance relationship with Smriti. Social media was flooded with the screenshots, fuelling questions about his behaviour.
The situation intensified when Smriti deleted all her pre-wedding and engagement photos with Palaash from Instagram. Unverified claims also suggested he had been seen with another woman just days before the engagement and had an argument with Smriti’s father. Neither Palaash nor Smriti has commented on the cheating allegations.
Woman Who Leaked Viral ‘Flirty’ Chats Breaks Silence
Mary D’Costa broke her silence late Wednesday night on Instagram. The woman clarified that she never met Palaash in person and that their interaction lasted only a month (from April 29 to May 30, 2025). She wrote, “I want to make it absolutely clear that I never met him and I never got involved with him in any way.”
She also explained the timing of her statement. Mary said, “People have been asking, ‘Why speak about this now?’ The truth is, I actually exposed him back in July, but no one really knew who he was at that time, so it went unnoticed.”
Mary also clarified her identity. She added, “I am not the choreographer, and I am not the person he cheated with. I’m saying this because things are getting mixed up, and I don’t want people assuming the wrong things.”
Palaash Muchhal In Hospital Amid Allegations Of Cheating On Smriti Mandhana
The couple’s wedding was to take place in Sangli (Maharashtra), and pre-wedding events, including sangeet and haldi, had already been held at a resort. After the postponement, Palaash was reportedly admitted to a Mumbai hospital due to exhaustion and stress, according to the Hindustan Times.
Despite the official explanation citing health reasons, the removal of engagement photos from Smriti’s Instagram kept rumours alive.
