Ajay Devgn is ready to tickle your funny bone again with Son of Sardaar 2. At the film’s trailer launch on Friday, fans got a mix of laughs and serious talks. While the focus was on his much-awaited comedy, Ajay also addressed the ongoing buzz around Diljit Dosanjh’s Sardaar Ji 3, which stars Pakistani actress Hania Aamir.
Diljit’s film has been facing strong backlash since its trailer dropped overseas on June 27. With India-Pakistan tensions running high after the Pahalgam terror attack, the film skipped an India release but still drew criticism. Politicians, social media users, and groups like the All India Cine Workers Association called out Diljit for working with a Pakistani actor during such a sensitive time.
When asked about it, Ajay gave a balanced answer. He said, “I don’t know where the trolling comes from, what is right and what is wrong. I’m not in his shoes to comment on that. He would’ve had his problems, and people are thinking from their point of view. So, when you've two different points of view, then you can sit and solve it out together. I'll not blame anybody or say that this is right or wrong. They need a conversation.”
Ajay Devgn Shares Childhood Memories With Sunny Deol
Ajay also spoke warmly about his bond with Sunny Deol. He recalled, “He is my neighbour. When we were young, Bobby and I were growing up together, and Sunny paaji was someone whom we respected and looked up to. We still talk about the punch he gives on screen; nobody can beat him.”
Interestingly, in the Son of Sardaar 2 trailer, Ajay’s character is seen mimicking Sunny Deol’s iconic scene from Border, creating a fun moment for fans.
When asked about the language row in Maharashtra, Ajay responded in his signature style. Referring to his famous Singham dialogue, he said, “The only answer I’ll give you about the language thing which is going on is ‘Aata Maaji Satakli’.”
Son Of Sardaar 2 Marks Ajay Devgn’s Comedy Comeback
Ajay is returning to comedy after six years, and he couldn’t be happier. He said, “I didn’t realise I’m doing comedy after six years, but it was a lot of fun doing this film. The script was very funny. When we decided to do Son of Sardaar 2, the important thing was that the humour quotient had to be more than the first part, and we are glad we cracked that kind of a script.”
Directed by Vijay Kumar Arora, Son of Sardaar 2 features a strong cast including Ravi Kishan, Sanjay Mishra, Mrunal Thakur, Chunky Panday, Vindu Dara Singh, Deepak Dobriyal, Ashwini Kalsekar, Kubbra Sait, Roshni Walia, and Sharat Saxena.
The first Son of Sardaar was released in 2012 and followed Jaswinder “Jassi” Singh Randhawa, who returned to Punjab from London to sell ancestral property, only to get caught up in family rivalries.
Produced by Ajay Devgn, Jyoti Deshpande, N R Pachisia, and Pravin Talreja, Son of Sardaar 2 is set to release on July 25.
