Filmmaker Sandeep Reddy Vanga publicly called out Deepika Padukone on Monday night in a fiery post on X. He accused her of “dirty PR games” and putting down younger actor Triptii Dimri. The Animal director didn’t name Deepika directly, but everything was evident in his cryptic post.
Deepika recently walked out of Vanga’s upcoming film Spirit, which now stars Triptii opposite Prabhas. Soon after, reports began circulating about the film’s plot, which Vanga believes were leaked deliberately.
Here’s What Sandeep Reddy Vanga Said
In his cryptic post, Vanga wrote, “When I narrate a story to an actor, I place 100% faith. There is an unsaid NDA between us. But by doing this, you’ve ‘DISCLOSED’ the person that you are... Putting down a Younger actor and ousting my story? Is this what your feminism stands for?”
In the same post, he expressed how deeply he values his work and how betrayed he felt. He added, “As a filmmaker, I put years of hard work behind my craft & for me, filmmaking is everything. You didn’t get it. You won’t get it. You will never get it. Aisa karo... Agli baar poori kahani bolna... kyunki mujhe jarra bhi farak nahi padtha (Next time tell the whole story... because I don’t care at all).”
He ended the post with a metaphor - “Khundak mein billi khamba noche,” which means “a jealous person tends to lash out.”

Triptii Dimri Replaces Deepika Padukone In Spirit
This came shortly after a Pinkvilla report revealed alleged story elements from Spirit, calling it a massy Telugu action entertainer with bold scenes and an “A-rated action” twist. The report stated Vanga was seeking an actress comfortable with such sequences and had created a safe and professional atmosphere for Triptii.
For the unversed, Triptii Dimri previously worked with Vanga in Animal, where her performance gained wide praise. She shared her excitement on Instagram after being confirmed as the lead in Spirit. She said that she feels honoured to be trusted with the project and is eager to bring the director’s vision to life.
The film is backed by T-Series and Bhadrakali Pictures, with Prabhas leading the cast. Deepika was initially announced as the female lead, but her sudden exit and the claims of script leaks have stirred controversy.
