Actor Sidharth Malhotra is mourning the loss of his father Sunil Malhotra. The news arrived on Tuesday evening after the actor shared an emotional post on Instagram. Through a series of personal photographs, Sidharth remembered his father with love, pride and gratitude.
The pictures showed their close bond. In one image, baby Sidharth is seen resting in Sunil Malhotra’s arms. Another photo shows a young Sidharth posing with his brother Harshad. A more recent picture includes Kiara Advani, where Sidharth is seen holding his father’s hand.

Sharing the photos, Sidharth Malhotra wrote, “He was a man of rare honesty, integrity and culture. He lived by values that never bent. Discipline without harshness. Strength without ego. Positivity, even when life tested him beyond measure. From commanding the seas as a Merchant Navy Captain to facing illness with quiet courage, he never compromised, never lost his grace. Even when the stroke confined him to a wheelchair, his spirit stood tall.”
He continued, “Papa, your integrity is my inheritance. Your strength guides me every day. Your positivity still holds this family together. You left us peacefully in your sleep, but the space you leave behind is immeasurable. I am who I am because of you. And I will carry your name, your values and your light forward always. Love you, Dad.”
Sunil Malhotra passed away on Saturday, February 14, 2026, in New Delhi after a prolonged illness. He was a former Merchant Navy captain. Over the years, Sidharth often spoke about his father’s discipline and integrity. In several interviews, he lovingly called him his “favourite hero.”
Following the loss, Sidharth and Kiara Advani travelled from Mumbai to New Delhi. The couple stayed with family during this difficult time. The funeral and final rites were conducted privately in Delhi, attended only by close family members and relatives.

On the work front, Sidharth Malhotra was last seen in Param Sundari. Despite his busy schedule, the actor has consistently prioritised family. 2025 marked a joyful phase for Sidharth and Kiara Advani. The couple welcomed their first child (a daughter named Saraayah Malhotra) on July 15, 2025 at Reliance Hospital in Mumbai. Later, they shared her name with fans, describing their baby girl as “our princess” and “our divine blessing.”
