Despite the dip, Thamma has crossed Rs 57 crore globally within three days. The film’s performance shows that the Maddock Horror-Comedy Universe (MHCU) still has a loyal fanbase. About The Film

Released on 21 October 2025, Thamma marks the fifth film in Maddock’s MHCU series. The film is directed by Aditya Sarpotdar and blends horror, romance, and mythology in a fun way. The story follows Alok Goyal, a shy journalist who falls in love with a mysterious vampire named Tadaka. Things take a dark turn when Alok discovers her secret and is drawn into a deadly battle against Yakshasan, the leader of the vampire clan.

Ayushmann plays Alok with charm and intensity, while Rashmika brings a unique spin to her vampire role. Nawazuddin Siddiqui plays the terrifying Yakshasan and steals every scene he appears in. The film also stars Paresh Rawal, Faisal Malik, and Geeta Agarwal Sharma. Fans were thrilled to see cameo appearances by Varun Dhawan as Bhediya and special dance performances by Malaika Arora and Nora Fatehi.

Made on a massive budget of Rs 145 crore, Thamma is Maddock Films’ most expensive project so far. The high production cost is visible in its grand visuals and top-notch VFX. Fans have praised Ayushmann for experimenting with a mythological vampire story instead of the typical Western-inspired ones. The film takes inspiration from the Indian folklore of Betaal, adding a desi twist to the vampire theme.

The movie was first announced in 2022 as Vampires of Vijay Nagar, with Samantha Ruth Prabhu as the lead. Rashmika later replaced her after changes in the script. Production faced a short delay when Rashmika injured her leg, but filming resumed quickly after her recovery.

Thamma ends with a huge cliffhanger that sets up a crossover with Bhediya. The post-credit scene hints at a supernatural clash between the two, teasing what’s next in the MHCU.

Though the film saw a fall on day 3, its strong opening and unique storyline have kept it trending. The next few days will show if Thamma can recover its momentum or face a tougher challenge at the box office.
