India ready for Muslim PM? ‘The day all Muslims say Bharat Mata ki Jai’, says Vivek Agnihotri on Rishi Sunak debate

Vivek Agnihotri: Soon after Rishi Sunak became the prime minister of the United Kingdom, a debate over whether the same can happen in India began. While the BJP said India has had presidents and prime minister from the minority, filmmaker Vivek Agnihotri gave an answer to when India can get a Muslim PM.

Filmmaker Vivek Agnihotri, who has remained mire in controversy after his film Kashmir Files, joined the debate that was triggered after Rishi Sunak became the prime minister of the United Kingdom and said the day all Muslims in India will say Bharat Mata ki Jai and Vande Mataram, India will be ready for a Muslim prime minister.

Vivek Agnihotri’s tweet was in reply to the tweet of a journalist.

“The day all Muslims of India will ban the word ‘Kafir’, speak unconditionally against Islamic Terrorism, commit Kashmir is integral part of India, identify as Bhartiya first then anything else & say with same vigour & commitment ‘Bharat Mata ki Jai’ and Vande Mataram’. You Ready?” the Kashmir Files director tweeted.

Cheap thrills

Meanwhile, other Bollywood biggies like Neetu Kapoor, Amitabh Bachchan, Chiranjeevi and Raveena Tandon too reacted to Rishi Sunak becoming Britain’s first Indian origin prime minister.

Neetu shared a picture of Rishi Raj Sunak on Instagram Stories and wrote, “’Rishi Raj Sunak’ getting cheap thrills with the name.” The soon-to-be Britain PM’s name is same as Neetu’s late actor husband, Rishi Kapoor. The name of his father was Raj Kapoor, the legendary filmmaker and actor.

Indians are overjoyed to see Rishi Raj Sunak become the first Indian origin prime minister of Britain. A host of Bollywood celebrities have reacted to the news and cheered for him on social media. While Neetu Kapoor found a strange connection with him, Amitabh Bachchan and Chiranjeevi also cheered for him.
