‘The Kashmir Files’ crosses Rs 150 crore mark at box office

New Delhi: Vivek Agnihotri directorial ‘The Kashmir Files’ has stormed the box office. The film, featuring Anupam Kher in the lead, registered a strong second weekend, crossing the Rs 150 crore mark on Monday.Indian film critic and trade analyst Taran Adarsh shared the movie’s box office collection on his Twitter handle.

“#TheKashmirFiles [Week 2] is a TSUNAMI at the #BO… Packs a SUPER-SOLID total [₹ 70.15 cr] in *Weekend 2*… #TKF REFUSES TO SLOW DOWN, should hit ₹ 200 on weekdays [by Wed or Thu]… Fri 19.15 cr, Sat 24.80 cr, Sun 26.20 cr. Total: ₹ 167.45 cr. #India biz,” he shared on Twitter. 

The film, which has been shattering box office records, collected Rs 3.55 crore on its opening day. It witnessed an increase in numbers on the first Saturday, earning Rs 8.50 crore. The movie registered even higher figures on its first Sunday and Monday, minting Rs 15.10 crore and Rs 15.05 crore, respectively.

On its first Tuesday, the film minted Rs 18 crore, taking its total to Rs 60.20 crore. This double-digit figure on a weekday broke post-pandemic records set by previous Bollywood films.

The hard-hitting drama, which revolves around the genocide of Kashmiri Pandits in 1990, stars Anupam, Pallavi Joshi, Mithun Chakraborty, Darshan Kumaar, Puneet Issar, Mrinal Kulkarni and others.

The film has been declared tax-free in several states including Uttar Pradesh, Tripura, Goa, Haryana and Uttarakhand.
