The Kerala Story Day 9: Adah Sharma starrer The Kerala Story is having a historic run at the box office. On the second Saturday since its release, the film recorded its biggest theatrical day and is expected to do even better on Sunday.
The Kerala Story opened well with collections of around Rs 6.75 crores net but then it stunned everyone. The film has recorded double digit numbers on each day of its run except for the first day.
It crossed the Rs 100 crore net India threshold on second Saturday with collections of around Rs 18 crores nett on day 9. It has thus become the second highest grossing Hindi film of the year after Pathaan.
Controversy over film
The Kerala Story was mired in controversy ever since its trailer was released last year. It was accused of hateful content and using unauthentic data. It has also come under fire for pushing its own agenda. Critics are of the view that the film has tried to fuel hatred. And though several petitions were filed, the Supreme Court refused to stay the film’s release. States like West Bengal and Tamil Nadu have banned the film but SC has issued notice to them on the issue.

Friday Day 1 – Rs 6.75 cr
Saturday Day 2 – Rs 11 cr
Sunday Day 3 – Rs 16 cr
Monday Day 4 – Rs 10.25 cr
Tuesday Day 5 – Rs 11 cr
Wednesday Day 6 – Rs 11.75 cr
Thursday Day 7 – Rs 11.50 cr
Friday Day 8 – Rs 11.50 cr
Saturday Day 9 – Rs 17.50 – 18 cr
Total = Rs 107 crores in 9 days
