TMKOC: After a news report claimed that Shailesh Lodha, who played the eponymous Taarak Mehta in Taarak Mehtah Ka Ooltah Chashmah, owed money, the show’s team issued a statement rejecting the claim. According to a recent press report, the Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah team has not cleared Shailesh Lodha’s dues, which amount to a six-figure sum. The actor left the series last year, and Sahil Shroff currently plays his role. While the actor did not say much about the situation, he did sarcastically tell Hindustan Times that it is nothing new.
TMKOC producers said that Lodha has not signed the papers
However, the producers have now stated that the debt has not been paid since Lodha has not finished his obligations. “Despite repeated requests to sign all dues documents and collect his outstanding payment, Shailesh Lodha has refused. There is always a procedure that must be followed and met while leaving any organisation or show. These procedures must be completed by all artists, personnel, and technicians. No company will release the payment until all of the processes have been completed,” says Suhel Ramani, project head of Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah, in a statement.
According to a source close to the production crew, “Shailesh Lodha and the other performers have become like an extended family to the production company. We have kept a respectful quiet on exits and the causes of exits out of respect for the person affected. When an artist acts in this manner, it is terribly sad and unpleasant. It is unethical to disregard their friendship and popularity as a result of the show. Payment is not a problem. He will be paid, but he must complete the procedure and sign the paperwork.”
Producers praised the staff of the show
The show’s producers claimed that no artiste’s payment had been delayed even by a single day. “If that were the case, no artist would have collaborated with the creation. When an artist acts in this manner, it is terribly sad and unpleasant. Every artist involved in such a lengthy daily show must be disciplined. TMKOC is a daily show, and the staff works around the clock to keep the show’s quality high. It is impossible to be ungrateful to the audience.”
