The success of Dhurandhar 2 has sparked conversation and the buzz is not just about its box office numbers. A recent comment by Zakir Khan led to controversy and drew strong reactions from the film industry.
What started as a light joke at an awards show turned into a bigger debate. People are talking about Bollywood, jealousy and how the industry reacts to big hits. Actress Ameesha Patel and director Siddharth Anand have both reacted strongly. Meanwhile, social media users are sharing mixed views.
Zakir Khan’s Dhurandhar 2 Remark
During the Screen Awards, Zakir Khan, who hosted the event, commented on Bollywood’s reaction to Dhurandhar 2. At first, the audience laughed. However, later, many people found the remark controversial.
He said, “Kitne hi congratulatory posts aap daal dein, kitni hi stories daal dein, kitne hi interview mein aap bol dein ‘my favourite film’, magar sach toh yeh hai ki Dhurandhar se sabki jalti toh hai”. He further added, “Bomb fatte Lyari mein, dhuan utha Juhu se Bandra mein.”
While some people saw it as humour, others did not agree. Soon after, filmmaker Siddharth Anand reacted on X (formerly Twitter). He criticised the remark without naming anyone.
He wrote, “Juhu – Bandra peeps have given all ATBB’s (all-time blockbusters) since the past 50 years. You have to be a real duffer to undermine their contribution”.
DON'T MISS
His post quickly went viral. Many users reacted to it. Some supported him, while others questioned his reaction. A user wrote, “Why so insecure? Dhurandhar is a Bollywood movie.”
Another commented, “You have to be a real duffer to even consider that as a contribution.” started trending online.
Ameesha Patel Trolled For Her Reaction On Zakir’s Dhurandhar 2 Comment
Ameesha Patel also shared her opinion. She took to X and defended Bollywood. She also spoke against the negativity around the film.
She wrote, “DUDE, Stop spreading NEGATIVITY! The film industry has valued and respected DHURANDHAR! Superstars like SRK, SALMAN, SUNNY, HRITHIK, AJAY, etc. have given not just one but 25-plus mega hits and will continue to do so. CHILL, GADAR bahut saalon se sabne machai hai, aur aage bhi machaayenge”
However, her post received heavy trolling. Many users did not agree with her and mocked her response.
A user wrote, Baat sahi jagah Jake lgi h jakir Khan sach bola ki jali to sbki h dhurandhar se.”
Another commented, “Tumhari Jalli toh hai.”
A third user said, “Burnol chahiye?”
One more added, “Fame ki kitni bhooki hai tu, irrelevant hai.”
Another Controversy At Same Event
Apart from Zakir Khan’s remark, another moment from the same awards night also created controversy. Journalist Sourabh Dwivedi made a comment about actor Rajpal Yadav, which many people found offensive.
He said, “Dollar ka rate kitna bhi upar neeche ho jaaye apko paise utne hi vapas lautaane hain (No matter how much the dollar rate fluctuates, you have to return the same amount of money)”.
This comment received strong backlash across the country. Soon, Salman Khan came forward to support Rajpal Yadav. He assured that the actor would continue to get work.
Later, Rajpal Yadav addressed the issue himself. He asked fans not to troll the journalist and said he was not hurt by the comment.
