Varun Dhawan is not happy that his performance at the Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre on Saturday was called humiliating by the internet. Varun has been at the receiving end of criticism after a video of him bringing supermodel Gigi Hadid on stage and spunning her around, went viral. He was also seen planting a peck on her cheek as he did so. Netizens dubbed that she appeared uneasy throughout the entire episode.
Varun shares clarification
Varun has now taken to Twitter to share his side of the story. Replying to a person on Twitter (whose original tweet is not visible) he said, “I guess today you woke up and decided to be woke. So lemme burst ur bubble and tell u it was planned for her to be on stage so find a new Twitter cause to vent about rather than going out and doing something about things. Good morning.”

Netizens weren't too happy about Varun Dhawan lifting Gigi in arms and then kissing her. Many pointed out that she was left utterly disgusted by the entire act.
“Did this man just lift her up without her permission!? she's not your wife she's #gigihadid for christs sake! leave it on indian men to embarrass at a world stage!” One user wrote.
“Was this required? You may be a celebrity but she is a guest too. Consent is applicable everywhere,” wrote another user.
Another user mentioned, “Watching this video is the literal example of second-hand embarrassment. I really hope this was pre-planned/scripted.”

Gigi Hadid touched in in India on Friday for the official opening of NMACC. She attended the on Day 1 in Rahul Mishra and later on Day 2, she was dressed in an Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla saree. She was also seen posing for pictures alongside Penelope Cruz, Zendaya, Luxury Law and Tom Holland.
