Vivek Agnihotri reacts to Anurag Kashyap’s comment on PM Modi; asks ‘ “Audience is ‘mob’ now?”

Vivek Agnihotri, a filmmaker, took to Twitter to respond to Anurag Kashyap’s recent “mob is out of control now” remark. Anurag said this after Prime Minister Narendra Modi told Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) workers to stop commenting on movies. According to Anurag, the PM is too late. The Kashmir Files filmmaker Vivek Agnihotri, who is frequently at odds with the DevD director, shared a news story about Anurag Kashyap’s views and tweeted, “Audience is ‘mob’ now? Wow! Wow! Wow!”

PM Narendra Modi advised BJP Workers

On the second day of the BJP’s national executive conference, PM Modi warned that superfluous remarks on inconsequential matters such as movies put the party’s development plan on hold, according to news agency PTI.

PTI reported Anurag as saying, “If he had stated this four years ago, it would have made a difference. Now, I doubt it will make a difference. It was all about keeping control of their own people. Things have now gotten out of control. Nobody, I believe, will listen to anyone.”  He was at the trailer launch of his new film Almost Pyaar, starring Alaya F., with DJ Mohabbat.

Further, the director stated, “When you remain silent, you support prejudice and bigotry. It is now so powerful that it is a power unto itself. The mob has gotten out of hand.” Previously, numerous lawmakers spoke out against Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone’s Pathaan song Besharam Rang. Among those who criticized Deepika’s saffron bikini were Madhya Pradesh home minister Narottam Mishra and Ram Kadam. Many others were likewise against the film and its song, claiming that they offended religious sensibilities.
