Deepika Padukone is keeping calm amid the buzz around her exit from Spirit, the upcoming film by director Sandeep Reddy Vanga. Rumours claim she left the project due to “unprofessional” demands, but Deepika remains focused on staying true to herself.

At a Cartier event in Stockholm on Tuesday, Deepika, the brand’s ambassador, opened up about her personal philosophy to Vogue Arabia.

Speaking at the event, she said, “I think what keeps me balanced is just being truthful, being authentic. And whenever I am faced with, say, complicated situations or difficult situations, to be able to listen to my inner voice and just make decisions, stand by decisions that really give me peace. That is when I feel most in equilibrium.”

The video of her interview quickly spread on social media. Fans felt she was addressing the Spirit controversy without naming it. One wrote, “She’s hitting the nail on the head here. Another said, "So much Drama in Life is not at all good , Be true to urself and dont act in front of media. Sandeep Sir is the one who never lie on his crafts bcz he is true to him and to the world too."

About Spirit Controversy

The drama around Spirit started last week when reports said Deepika Padukone left the film starring Prabhas. The story picked up after Triptii Dimri was announced as her replacement. Several sources said Deepika refused to shoot for more than six hours a day, which caused problems on set. Her team also asked for changes to the contract, including extra pay if the shoot went beyond 100 days.

Director Sandeep Reddy Vanga added to the tension by posting on X (formerly Twitter). He suggested that leaks about the film’s plot and casting came from Deepika’s side. Though he didn’t name her, he criticised breaking an unspoken agreement between actors and filmmakers. He questioned whether this behaviour reflected true feminism.

Spirit will be the first time Prabhas and Triptii Dimri act together. For Triptii Dimri, this is her 2nd film with director Sandeep Reddy Vanga and producer Bhushan Kumar, after their hit movie Animal. The film is still in pre-production and is supported by T-Series and Bhadrakali Pictures. Prabhas will play a police officer in the movie.
