Cholesterol: Delhi-Based Doctor Says He Lowered His Own LDL Without Medicine — Just 5 Kitchen Foods Did The Job

High cholesterol has become a common health problem, especially in an urban lifestyle where diet, stress and lack of exercise affect heart health. Many people depend only on medicines to control their reports, but some doctors say small changes in daily food habits can also make a big difference. A Delhi-based doctor recently shared his personal experience and explained how simple kitchen foods helped him improve his cholesterol levels without starting medicines immediately.

Doctor Saleem Zaidi shared in a video on his YouTube channel that when his own cholesterol level increased, he first decided to change his diet instead of taking tablets. Within six weeks, his reports improved so much that even his cardiologist friend was surprised. He said the five foods he used are very common, low-cost, and easily available in every Indian kitchen. According to him, these foods together may help reduce LDL cholesterol by around 15 to 25 percent in six to eight weeks if taken regularly along with a proper routine.

According to ICMR data, nearly one out of four people in India has high cholesterol. The dangerous part is that this condition usually shows no symptoms. Cholesterol slowly sticks to the walls of blood vessels and increases the risk of blockage, heart attack, and stroke. However, experts say diet control plays a very important role in managing cholesterol levels.

Cholesterol Control With 5 Simple Kitchen Foods

Doctor Zaidi explained that these five foods are rich in fiber, healthy fats, and natural compounds that support heart health.

1. Oats
Oats contain soluble fiber called beta-glucan. This fiber forms a gel in the stomach and helps remove extra cholesterol from the body. Eating oats daily for breakfast may help lower LDL levels within a few weeks. It is better to use rolled oats or steel-cut oats instead of processed varieties.

2. Fenugreek Seeds (Methi Dana)
Fenugreek seeds contain natural fiber and plant compounds that help reduce total cholesterol. Soaking one to two teaspoons overnight and drinking the water in the morning may support better lipid levels over time.

3. Lentils and Pulses
Dal, chana, rajma and moong are common in Indian meals and are known to be heart-friendly. They contain soluble fiber and plant sterols which help reduce cholesterol absorption in the body. Eating pulses daily can support long-term cholesterol control.

4. Flax Seeds (Alsi)
Flax seeds are rich in omega-3 fatty acids, lignans and fiber. These nutrients help reduce inflammation and support healthy blood vessels. Roasted and powdered flax seeds can be mixed in flour, curd, or salad for daily use.

5. Garlic
Garlic contains a natural compound called allicin which becomes active when crushed. This compound may help reduce cholesterol production in the liver. Eating two raw garlic cloves in the morning is often suggested for better results.

Daily Routine Suggested By The Doctor

The doctor also shared a simple routine that fits easily into daily life without major changes.

  • Morning: Drink fenugreek water and eat soaked seeds
  • After some time: Eat crushed raw garlic
  • Breakfast: Oats porridge or oats cheela
  • Lunch: Dal, roti, vegetables, or rajma with less refined oil
  • Evening snack: Roasted chana or sprouts
  • Dinner: Light vegetables, dal, and roti mixed with flax seed powder

He said this routine is low-cost and may help people with borderline cholesterol levels. However, he also advised that people with very high cholesterol should not stop medicines without consulting a doctor. Small diet changes can help, but medical advice is always important for safety.
