Covid-19 update: India’s tally crosses 5.9 million mark

India has recorded over 58 lakh coronavirus cases, with 86,052 new cases reported in the last 24 hours. The death toll from the virus has reached 92,290, as per the latest update from health ministry.

The total case tally stands at 59,03,933 including 9,60,969 active cases, 48,49,585 recovered cases and 93,379 deaths.

Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) has said, “7,02,69,975 samples have been tested up to 25th September for COVID-19. Of these, 13,41,535 samples were tested yesterday.”

Here’s a look at top five states with maximum case load:

Maharashtra reported 17,794 new coronavirus cases which took infection count to 13,00,757; death toll has reached 34,761 with 416 new fatalities.

Andhra Pradesh reported 7,855 cases in last 24-hour, taking state’s total toll to 6,54,385. Number of recovered patients currently stands at 5, 79,474 while 5,558 casualties have been reported.

With 5,692 fresh cases, Tamil Nadu’s total tally is at 5,63,691. Recoveries have reached 5,08,210 while death toll is at 9,076.

Karnataka reported 8,655 new Covid-19 cases, 5,644 discharges & 86 deaths. The total number of cases in the state now stands at 5,57,212 including 98,474 active cases, 4,50,302 discharges & 8,417 deaths: Health department

Uttar Pradesh registered 4,519 new Covid-19 cases, pushing the total tally in the state to 3,78,533. Death toll mounted to 5,450 with 84 more fatalities in last 24-hour. The number of active cases stands at 59,397.
