Covid-19 update: India’s total tally crosses 6 million

India’s Covid-19 tally crosses 6 million with a spike of 82,170 new cases and 1,039 deaths reported in the last 24 hours. The case tally stands at 60,74,703 including 9,62,640 active cases, 5,01,6521 cured/discharged/migrated & 95,542 deaths.

The cumulative total samples tested up to September 26 is 7,12,57,836. The number of samples tested on September 26 is 9,87,861.

India became the second country after the US to register 6 million Covid-19 cases on Sunday,

India is the second-worst hit nation in terms of Covid-19 cases after the US. However, fatality reported in the country are lesser than Brazil which is third to report covid-19 cases.

India continues to register highest number of covid-19 cases despite a marginalised drop in last 10 weeks. The average daily count was more than 84,000 cases for the last week. A total number of 5,90,605 fresh infections were logged during September 21-27.

The top five states to report most number of cases are — Maharashtra, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh.
