Delhi Pollution: The Air Quality Index (AQI) in the Delhi National Capital Region (NCR) region has forced the Delhi government to enforce stringent measures to curb air pollution.
The Delhi government will impose Graded Response Action Plan-4 (GRAP-4) from December 18, 2025, in the city. Delhi will ONLY permit BS6-compliant vehicles to enter Delhi from December 18, 2025. This will significantly restrict the entry of all BS3 and BS4 vehicles registered outside the city.
No PUC, No Fuel At Petrol Pumps
The Delhi government also announced that vehicles without a valid pollution under control (PUC) certificate will not be able to get fuel at petrol pumps from tomorrow. The fuel ban will be strictly enforced using AI-enabled camera and Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) technology installed at fuel stations. Delhi Environment Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa said petrol pump owners found violating will be severely penalized.
Sirsa added both private and commercial vehicles from outside Delhi with less than B6 categorization will NOT be allowed to enter Delhi from tomorrow. It was also added that there will be a blanket ban on trucks bringing construction materials into Delhi. Singh said trucks that are found violating the order will face hefty penalties and risk vehicle seizures.
The Delhi government also announced that schools in Delhi have been asked to shift all classes to online mode. A ban has been imposed on all non-essential demolition and construction activities. Furthermore, offices in Delhi can call only call 50 percent staff while giving work-from-home option to others.
