Weight Loss
Excess weight puts strain on your blood vessels and heart, resulting in high blood pressure. Weight loss can lower your blood pressure. For this, you do not need to starve yourself. Instead, you should focus on balanced diet, involving vegetables, fruits, low-fat dairy product, lean protein, and whole grains, and do some moderate intensity exercises to lower your weight.
Cut Down On Salt Intake
Excess intake of salt can increase your blood pressure and increase chances of cardiac problems. So, you are suggested to cut down on salt intake—the lower the intake of sale, the better it is for you to control your blood pressure. Not only you should abstain from table salt but also from hidden sources of sodium present in packaged foods.
Give Up Alcohol and Smoking
Both alcohol and smoking are major hurdles to lowering high blood pressure. Drinking two pegs of alcohol a day increases the risk of hypertension in you.
