Monsoon finally arrives in north, parts of Delhi receive monsoon showers

After much delay, Monsoon has finally arrived in Delhi today as heavy rain and thunderstorm lashed parts of the city and its adjacent areas including National Capital regions. The India Meteorological Department had predicted rain today.

“Thunderstorm with light to moderate intensity rain and winds with speed of 20-40 km/h would occur over and adjoining areas of most places of Delhi, NCR (Bahadurgarh, Gurugram, Faridabad, Loni Dehat, Noida) Gohana, Sonipat, Rohtak (Haryana) Khekra (UP) during next 2 hours,” the IMD tweeted.

Several parts of the Delhi received moderate rain in wee hours on Tuesday, while intensified rain is expected to hit the city later in the day. As per the prediction of the weather department, moist easterly winds have now reached north India, including Delhi, which will help the rainfall activity continue over the region.

As per the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the minimum temperature in the city today will be 25.0 degrees Celcius, while the maximum temperature is unlikely to go beyond 33.0 degrees Celcius.

The weather conditions continue to remain favourable for the arrival of monsoon in the national capital, k Jenamani, a senior scientist at IMD, said.
