National Cancer Awareness Day 2022: From Mahima Chaudhry to Chhavi Mittal, these leading ladies not only fought this battle against Breast Cancer, but also shared their inspiring journey

National Cancer Awareness Day 2022: Since 2008, National Cancer Awareness Day has been observed on November 7 in the memory of the Nobel Prize-winning scientist Madame Curie’s birth anniversary.

Many bollywood celebs too have been diagnosed with the breast cancer and have successfully defeated it as well leading them to become a inspirational story.

According to the World Health Organization, Cancer is one of the major causes of death in the world. Annually, India reports close to 1.1 million new cases of cancer.

What is Breast Cancer?

Breast cancer is a type of disease in which cells in the breast grow out of control.

Breast cancer is the second most prevalent type of cancer found in American women after skin cancer. While breast cancer can affect men as well, it affects women much more frequently.

Bollywood celebs have opened fully on the issue and spoken cleary regarding awareness. The list includes Mahima Chaudhry, Sonali Bendre, and Hollywood’s big name Angelina Jolie as well,

Actress Mahima Chaudhry shares her experience

Bollywood actress Mahima Chaudhry was suffering from breast cancer. Although, now she has said that she is now cancer free from past three-four months. Anupam Kher, an actor who is filming a movie with Mahima, made a video earlier in which he announced Mahima’s breast cancer diagnosis. Anupam called Mahima as his “hero” while sharing the video.

She said,”I had no symptoms of cancer and it was diagnosed in my routine checkups.”

Sonali Bendre made a visit to the New York hospital for the treatment of Breast Cancer

Sonali Bendre, an actress and cancer survivor, made a visit to the New York hospital where she received treatment after receiving a metastatic cancer diagnosis in 2018. She wrote about her “bittersweet” experience returning to the hospital after four years.

Sonali Bendre has been a vocal supporter of women’s early breast cancer detection since overcoming her own cancer.

She said,”Today everyone is talking so casually about it. Four years back, it wasn’t like that. So today I accept it was important and glad that I could make that conversation.”

Chhavi Mittal doesn’t have any problem with her Scars

Chhavi Mittal serves as an inspiration for many. She thought about mindful living and upbringing even before she was diagnosed with breast cancer. The actress has been discussing how she is facing each day head-on with a positive mind and heart following her cancer surgery.

Chhavi said,”Some have also asked me if I’ll remove these scars with a laser or some such and I say never! They remind me of the fight I fought and the victory I achieved. Why would I ever want to hide these battle scars! That would be tampering with evidence! Proud to be a #cancersurvivor.”

Angelina Jolie

After completing genetic testing and realising that she had a greatly increased chance of developing breast cancer due to a mutation of the BRCA1 gene, Angelina Jolie made the decision to move forward with a preventative double mastectomy five years ago.

Preventions by CDC

These are some suggestions, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), can reduce the risk of breast cancer.

• Holding onto a healthy weight.
• Regular exercise.
• Restricting consumption of alcohol.
• Using oral contraceptives and hormone Replacement treatment as little as possible.
• If at all possible, breastfeed your kids

Awareness about breast cancer is urgently needed. Compared to western nations, India is experiencing an alarming increase in the number of breast cancer cases. One must consult with a doctor if they feel slightest inconvenience as well.

Breast lumps, bloody nipple discharge, and changes in the nipple’s or breast’s shape or texture are all indications of breast cancer.
