Painful Skin Rash That Won’t Heal? AIIMS Doctor Warns It’s Not Allergy But THIS Dangerous Virus – Delaying Treatment May Damage…

A painful skin rash may not be an allergy but a viral infection that attacks the nerves. Doctor warns that delaying treatment can lead to long-term nerve damage. Read to know more!

A skin rash can look harmless at first. Many people ignore it. Some try home remedies or rituals. Others assume it is just an allergy that will fade. But doctors are now warning that a painful skin rash that does not heal could be a sign of something far more serious. And delaying treatment may cause long-term damage.

According to AIIMS doctor Priyanka Sehrawat, many patients are walking in late with rashes that are not allergic at all. These rashes are caused by a dangerous virus that attacks the nerves. By the time patients seek help, the damage has already begun.

Painful Skin Rash Caused By Zoster Virus

If there is a skin rash like this, rituals or jhaada will not help at all. Doctors say they are currently seeing many such cases. The cause is the zoster virus, a viral infection.

This is the same virus that causes chickenpox in children. After chickenpox heals, the virus does not leave the body. It stays dormant for years. It can reactivate later in life when immunity drops.

This often happens during pregnancy, severe stress, old age, or illness. Once reactivated, the virus attacks the nerves. That is why patients feel burning, tingling, or sharp pain even before the rash appears.

The skin rash usually shows up on the waist, chest, back or face. It often appears on only one side of the body. The pain can be severe and constant.

Doctors stress that early treatment is critical. If ignored, the infection can turn into neuropathy, a nerve disorder. This can cause pain that lasts for months or even years.

Antiviral medicines are needed to stop the virus. Pain management is also important. If you notice a painful skin rash with burning or tingling, consult a dermatologist immediately.

Why Delaying Treatment Can Lead To Nerve Damage

According to health experts and infectious disease specialists, shingles-related rashes should be treated within the first 72 hours. Early treatment reduces complications and speeds up recovery.

When treatment is delayed, the virus keeps damaging the nerves. This can lead to post-herpetic neuralgia, a condition where pain continues long after the rash heals. Some patients struggle with sleep, anxiety, and daily activities due to constant pain.

Doctors also warn that home remedies can worsen the infection. Applying heat, oils, or unverified treatments may delay medical care.

Experts advise people to watch for warning signs. These include pain before rash, blisters, fever, and extreme sensitivity to touch.

A skin rash is not always simple. Sometimes, it is your body asking for urgent medical attention. Ignoring it can cost you months of pain.

If something feels wrong, trust your instincts. See a doctor early. Your nerves will thank you later.
