Protein Test: Choosing the right supplement can be confusing. Labels often make bold claims, but how accurate are they? In a recent video, Trustified (India’s first and only 100% blind testing certification programme) revealed the lab test results for Nutrabay Pea Protein. The findings offer useful insights for fitness enthusiasts and everyday consumers.
According to the product label, Nutrabay Pea Protein contains 62.5% protein. The protein source is hydrolysed pea protein. The ingredient list also includes polydextrose (a soluble fibre), cocoa powder and coconut fat powder. Other ingredients are mentioned on the packaging, but the main focus remains on nutritional accuracy and safety.
Protein Test Results: What Did The Lab Find?
Trustified’s blind lab analysis evaluated the product across six levels. The first stage checked macro accuracy. The company claims 62.5% protein, while the lab detected 62.04%. This shows the protein content is very close to what is advertised.
Per 40 g serving, the brand claims 25 g of protein. The lab measured 24.82 g on a dry basis. Carbohydrates were slightly lower than claimed. The label states 9.88 g, while the lab found 8.4 g.
However, fats showed a noticeable deviation. The company claims only 0.68 g of fat per serving. The lab detected 3.76 g. While this does not indicate a safety risk, it highlights a nutritional mismatch that consumers should be aware of.
DON'T MISS
The second stage in the protein test examined the amino acid profile. No signs of amino spiking were found. This means the protein quality appears genuine.
Further tests checked for contaminants. Melamine levels were below the limit of quantification (LOQ). Heavy metal screening detected only cadmium and it remained within safe limits. Aflatoxins were below LOQ. No pesticides were detected. Minor visible elements were identified as elemental copper, also within safe limits.
Taste, Mixability And Overall Experience
Beyond lab numbers, practical use matters. Trustified tested serving size accuracy. The label states one heaping scoop equals 40 g. Measurements confirmed this claim as accurate.
Mixability performed well. Using 225 ml of water (slightly more than whey protein), the powder mixed smoothly after 15 seconds of shaking. No lumps were observed. The product earned a 5 out of 5 rating for mixability.
However, taste received a mixed response. Pea protein naturally has a grainy texture. The flavoured version is drinkable, but a mild flour-like aftertaste remains. Trustified rated taste 3 out of 5 stars.
Packaging stood out positively. The box design and separate scoop holder improved usability. Packaging received a 5 out of 5 rating.
To sum it up, Nutrabay Pea Protein passed all Trustified blind testing levels. The protein content is accurate, and safety checks look clean. The price remains competitive at Rs 1349 per kg, translating to roughly Rs 54 per serving.
The only compromise lies in taste. Simply put, it is drinkable but not truly enjoyable.
