After a steep demand from the buyers, the Alphonso mangoes will be geo-tagged. The decision comes after the Maharashtra government’s initiative to tag more than 400 million Alphonso mangoes. One of the most superior varieties of mangoes, Alphonso is primarily cultivated in the Sindhudurg, Ratnagiri, and Raigad regions of Maharashtra.
Alphonso mangoes on EMI
A fruit vendor in Maharashtra's Pune district recently went viral after he started selling Alphonso mangoes on EMI. Gaurav Sanas, the fruit seller at Gurukripa Traders and Fruit Products in Pune, partnered with Paytm to sell mangoes on EMI. Gaurav said that the EMI option wouldn't be accessible until a purchase of at least Rs. 5,000 had been made. It requires the consumer to have a credit card, after which the purchase price is divided into 3, 6, or 12 monthly installments, he added. “After Covid, it was seen that people were losing interest in Alphonso due to its high price. So we started this scheme of giving mangoes on EMI, in order to bring back the customers," he was quoted as saying by ANI.
